need advise please,, mom has a 2006 top loader made by whirlpool for kenmore, sears,, other then motor couplers and agiatator pawls its been good until 2017 clothes came out full of lint after much research i found that the neutral drain no longer worked, so i pulled trans did not see any issues, but i replaced complete trans with a new part,, all has been good until now,, washer made loud grinding noise, took new trans apart found a worn out bevel gear and worm drive.[i thought it was noisy from the start when first put it in seemed like no oil,,but when i took it apart it was full but worm and bevel gear are shot,,, now since metal gears not avail, i took orig trans that worked good except no neutral drain,, i removed all drain parts from new trans put them in old ran unit it worked great for two loads and now when its time to do a neutral drain you hear bang and it starts to spin, the only thing i did not do was get whirlpool gear oil i went to auto store they gave me 80w-90 with 1/2 synthetic mix,, could that be an issue do i need to give up..my 83 year old mother is a wash acholic 2-3 loads every other day

Maybe something was installed wrong.  Neutral drain shifting is all inside the transmission.  The clutch and brake release are outside the transmission.  I used 80W-90 gear oil on a recent DD transmission rebuild, but the machine hasn't been used other than a few mins testing.

Hi, I would use a little lighter oil around 60 weight and see if it starts NDing again.

I assume you used the ND parts from the new transmission.

yes i used all neutral drain parts from new trans, and the case and gears from old trans,, it seems to work fine if i wash in high speed agitate heavy duty setting,,,also is it common for a trans to damage the bevel gear teeth new trans is just over one year old i feel it was noisey from the start
