I currently have a 30" tappan from the 70s (I'm guessing) and like it so that's why I bought this one. I dont have any other knowledge about gas stoves other than that. I made my husband drive 4 hours one way for it though so I hope it's not too s****y. I realize I was taking a real chance so please give me some good news.
The seller hooked it up for me and all the burners and oven lit. I do have to convert it to LP though but that didn't look like too big of a deal.
Are there safety concerns with this type of range? It's got a standing pilot instead of...umm, whatever you call what my current range has. Wow, my ignorance is boggling even my mind right now.
Oh and I looked on ephemera and found this manual for a '63 range that I think looks just like it. If that's it I'll go ahead and get that manual.
Have Tappans Sizzle/Simmer burners which are fantastic The flame comes out of a slot instead of drilled holes so you get a solid film of flame which heats more evenly.
