OK I have a 1987 model kenmore dryer. It was overheating and John had me check the venting. Well, the vent line was crushed in the wall, I opened the line up and dried a load of laundry, it did great. It was a little noisy so I changed the rollers, the front and rear drum felt seals, Also replaced the seals for the blower housing. The thermostat has also been replaced along with the belt. I put everything back together, tightened it down and started a load. OMG its so loud, not a thumping just loud (think steady rumble). The roller shafts didnt look worn but could they cause alot of noise? I have double checked to make sure all the seals were in place and they are. Also, I am still overheating, I can dry a load but it will cut out about midway thru the second load. Its getting full open venting. Can anyone tell me some other things I can change/try to quiet it down and stop the overheating? I really am trying to fix this and I really do appreciate any info that can assist me. I don't know why but I guess I have made this a hobby of sorts now.
As far as the overheating you need to take a measurement. Empty and on high heat you should expect to be around 150 at the exhaust +- 10 degrees. If you have a voltage tester you should check your element, it may be grounded to the body. Run the dryer on air fluff, if it heats definitely grounded element.
The noise you just have to look. Take the drum out and check each component one by one until you find it.
