and other here that know more will stop by, but the "wire" your referring to is a type of nichrome resistance wire that's made in varies Gage's depending on application.
The gage and length determine the amount of resistance = heat. Some old toasters weren't designed to shut off automaticity.. (Plug in for on, unplug for off) had to keep a eye on it while toasting, and turn bread to toast both sides. HTH |
