The 1-18s seem amazing I wonder why they weren't #1 or #2 in sales? Or were they and GM sold the appliance division because it wasn't in their core competency? | ||

Good question
GM divested Frigidaire because Frigidaire workers had the nerve to demand similar benefits and work conditions as GM automobile workers. Rather than dealing with the unions and deciding to take care of their loyal workforce GM cut them loose, setting a trend that we all know tsunamied through the world of appliance manufacture. It was a historic Lose, Lose, Lose. Even the stockholders didn't gain from that bad decision.
