A friend of mine asked me about an appliance line named CAFE - It appears they are ranges, refrigerators and dishwashers. I was reading here on the forum that they are a GE product. Anyone know anything about them??? Are they now made by Haire??? I just didn't know anything about them and knew I could find out here. Thanks !!!!

Bob

The Cafe slide in range

I've been looking at the Cafe slide in ranges. Yes they are GE/Haier.

Yes, sadly they are made by Haier-Qingdao of communist china. Generally, the only difference between the Cafe line and the regular GE line is mostly cosmetic or a few added features (and a little more money out of your wallet.)

CAFE = GE marketing.  Similar to Whirlpool Gold or Kenmore Elite.

They're not made in China though . Although it's only been a year and some since we bought our GE Profile stove we haven't had any problems with it and the quality seems quite good. It works really well. Their stoves get good reviews in CR.

The GE profile slide-in smooth top range in my condo is from 2002 and works great. It gets a lot of use from the cleaning I had to give it when I bought the place 6 months ago.
I don't miss gas at all.

Cafe was always a sexier GE Profile. I quite liked the look of their double oven ranges. Looks like they’ve added a bunch of color customizations now—interesting way to combat the x-stainless flavor of the week from other manufacturers.

China got our attention with low prices and mass production.  Their quality is definitely improving.

Yes, Frigidaire Galley

line is mid range now. Professinal line is higher.

I think my last new dishwasher purchase, in 1999, for a bisque Frigidaire was a Gallery.  It had a reversing motor that would wash one level in one direction and the opposite the other level.  It was very nice.

It looks like it's been demoted to middle of the road.  Now I know what long time owners of audi, mercedes, and bmw feel like.
