I'm not sure if this link has been posted here before. These are lots of fun old catalogs from stores like Sears, Wards and a few others. Its hard to imagine how cheap things were at one time. Sorry there's not much in the way of appliances, maybe a coffee maker or toaster here and there. I especially like these items from the Sears Christmas book from during the war years. I think any racist connotations should be overlooked...the Country was at war. Gotta love that Hitler pin cushion. Please enjoy.

I guess I really have no excuse not to tackle some projects around the house since we're sheltering in place here for the next three weeks.

Unless I decide to read a couple of books I've been meaning to instead . . .

It's weird looking at all the home furnishings etc of the mid 60s thru 70s, that many of us grew up with. Looks so dated and , well not all of it was pretty or tasteful . lol

I recall reading

"Earth Abides" by George R. Stewart in junior high school for a book report. Dystopian, but a good read. Amazon has it, and at least in part is free just by Googling it.
A guy named Isherwood survives a killer virous while hiking in the Oakland Ca. mountain areas because he was bitten by a rattlesnake. He returns to town to find everyone dead.

Re: #3

I read that in junior high as well. I read a HUGE amount of 'dystopian future' sci-fi in junior high and high school. I agree it's a good read.

Actually, it started in elementary school with Children of Morrow and the sequel Return to Morrow. The world essentially pollutes itself to death. The only survivors are from underground bases, one purpose-built, high tech, and fairly egalitarian and the other a military base that was just barely hanging on, worsened by pseudo religion run amok.

Thank you for that treasure trove, Joe. Looks like some fun reading.

I remember reading a 1961 novel called Epidemic! by Frank G. Slaughter about NYC hit by an epidemic of Black Death and the doctors and nurses who battled it in a big city hospital. My best friend had read it and loaned me his copy.

I've started on watching Deep Space Nine.  Quit watching when it aired when the Dominion War story line got convoluted to follow.  Have had the full DVD set for years, time now to get on it.
