Well, after like 4-5 years of living in our current house, me and my mom finally got around to cleaning our second kitchen!!! YAY!!! It is pretty sweet, our house used to be an apartment complex type thing, which would explain the plumbing in my bedroom! So, there is a second full kitchen in the basment, provided it's pretty small, but still pretty frickin cool! The countertop and lighting are all right out of the 60's and since the basement is getting all polished up, I might just move down there! Anyway, back on the subject, I decided to buy a countertop dishwasher to complete this kitchen and make it fully functional! I think the kitchen's original intent was to be a wet bar, and then the house was made into the apartment complex so a range and a refrigerator were hastilly added to the really neat bar area along with the built-in under counter lighting for liquor bottles to sit on and glow to look all fancy and stuff. I plan on using this kitchen and making it my own. Now I just gotta get some dishes, glasses, silverware, take a few pictures for everyone and I'm all set!!!

Sounds great, Jamie; We'll be looking forward to the pictures. Did your laundry room plumbing issue get worked out?

What a cool arrangement! It reminds me of a snack bar in a bowling alley or something.

LOVE the detergent bottles on the "LikkerLites"! You should put a few clear bottles of dishwashing liquid on them, too.

So. You going to turn the basement into a Swingin' Bachelor Pad? ;)

Hey Jamie, Thanks for the neat pictures. That wall paper is really neat. What kind of countertop dishwasher did you decide on?

Nice space Jamie! I wish I had something like that. Is the stove and fridge actually yellow? Nice... my favorite of all the older applicance colors.

I'm trying to score one of those Danby countertop units. They get excellent reviews on Amazon. A friend has one of those 18" Haier machines and I don't think the quality is there. Very plasticy. And the Danby has a window! Now all it needs is a light.

Good luck with the new digs. :-)

I decided on the Edgestar, I believe that it is Danby made, but this one has a bigger window.

That kitchen is ultra-cool! Have fun with the new countertop DW, it will work great until you find a vintage Whirlpool, Kenmore, or KitchenAid roll-around...

I love basement kitchens, we had one in the house my parents bought in 1986. It was a weekend-carpenter special and aside from being very ugly, it wasn't a horrible building job. We had our Maytag portable dishwasher, a Tappan gas range and WCI/Coronado refrigerator. I added a Hoover Deluxe portable washer, but that was just for fun...

I've always wanted one of these countertop dishwashers and keep hoping I'll come upon one at the thrift stores one day. I like the little Danby with the window, but I suspect a piece of plexiglas would be easy enough to fit into the others too. Keep us posted, Jamie - you'll have lots of fun with this kitchen - and I love the lighted display shelves!

Nifty little kitchenette there! I like those countertops with the chrome edge around them. That's real wood paneling there too, not just that cardboard junk that was used later on!

Nice spaces, sir.

Can't tell; are the stove & ref white or almond?
