What is the differences in model N and N2L or J and J2L?

The "2" represents models made after WW2 ended and Maytag went back into production of washing machines. During the war effort, all appliance production was halted in favor of producing parts for the military.

The "L" represents "Electric", whereas "M" represents the gasoline "Multi-motor".
