On German eBay Kleinanzeigen is a Thomas Duettomatic for sale. It's a twintub with agitator, automatic washing (washing start after selected temperature is achieved). Thomas is still in business and is I believe the only company that still makes spindryers.

I might have missed the question then. lol

Here is the Thomas website. Apparently they make all kind of vacuums too.

Louis you mentioned about the Stokvis twintubs but the Brunlec looks very similar and wondered if this was made by Thomas, almost same style cabinet with base plinth and metal top trim ??

I'm not sure, I think more twintubs had that type of trim. I have some old brochures, I will get them out and see if I can find some more about this. Might as well wear a face mask with those old brochures. lol

I'll get back when I know more, I have some things to do today, but will look into this.

A few more thoughts.

1. The Erres/Stokvis was not made by Thomas, Erres didn't make them themselves, but most Erres washing equipment was made by the Dutch company Menkema.

2. Both the Brunlec and the Thomas have a 3 kWh heater, the one in the Thomas is even variable. But 3 kWh heaters were rather rare I believe.

3. Is there a picture of the agitator or the inside of the Brunlec available?

I apologize for what might seem like a stupid question, but what is the processing for using a twin tub machine?  I know the tub on the left washes and tub on the right spins, but what is the order in which all that happens?  I'm guess the tub on the left washes and rinses.  I guess it might be a little like the order in which clothes are laundered in a wringer washer.

Rinsing is most of the time done in the spinner. There are several methods for that. One is that you put the washed laundry into the spinner, spin it dry and then do multiple rinses by filling it with water and then spin the water out again. Some models have a rinse/spin function. My mother's twintub had a pipe with small holes in the center, rinsing was done by letting the machine spin and let water spray on the laundry. I think some of the American Easy models had a similar design.

Here's one of Mike's twintubs.

I found a Dutch lookalike of the Duettomatic. It's the FAM Twin-O-Matic. FAM however made it's own machines. They made machines with pulsators and agitators. Heater is 2000 Watts, spinspeed 2600rpm. The Deluxe models had automatic heating and washing. It had automatic rinsing too, three rinses done automatically, apparently programmed on the timer of the spinner.

Thank you for the information!  That's a little different than what I had envisioned.  It's still a little labor intensive but it is compact in design and what a huge improvement over a wringer washer!  I loved watching the video!

I thought you might perhaps like to see how a machine with a rinse spin works. This is an AEG Lavalux.

In the Netherlands the H-axis twintub took on at an early stage. These were automatics in the sence that washing and rinsing (5 rinses) were performed automatically. No spins between rinses so it took a lot of water to get the laundry rinsed well, but water was cheap back then so nobody cared. When the laundry was done, all you had to do was spin the laundry in the separate spinner. Here is a later model from the 1990's. The original model was introduced late 1950's IIRC.
