If I had the sense I was born with, I wouldn't even be asking this.
But, I'm such a sucker for a pretty face. Every time I see one of these for sale, I can't help but be tempted.
I don't even know if it works this way. But...can anyone identify the model of this Maytag by the control panel?
The seller doesn't have many pictures.
They stated that it's a 1973.
Thanks for looking.

Looks like an A606, large capacity.

Yes, that does look like an A606 with the Permanent Press timer

Would that be a desirable model?
I have no experience with them. I know some only have the one speed for agitation. Would that be the case here?
I'm not really considering buying it, but I know me. I could probably be persuaded.

Two buttons right of the timer are for speed, Regular or Delicate.

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate the information.
It's probably not going to happen. It would be at least a 1.5 hour drive each way.
I'm still dealing with vertigo, so I haven't driven even around the block in two weeks.
And I'm not "in the market" for a washer to put into use at the moment.
There's way more reasons for me not to buy it than there are reasons to buy it.
I'm just so dang attracted to the center dial Maytags. And it's avocado!

May I ask for opinions now?

As I said, I'm very attracted to center dial Maytags. And, I like the color.
But, I could use the opinions of people who aren't just thinking with their hearts.
This one would require some logistics.
It's about an hour and a half drive, minimum, each way. I'd also have to figure out how to haul it, as I no longer own a truck. Due to my health problems, I haven't even been driving at all. So, that, in and of itself, could be an adventure.
Plus, the asking price is $200 or best offer. I haven't attempted to discuss price with the seller as of yet, to see how negotiable it is.
On the plus side, it looks good, and it's still in use with no issues.
I know, ultimately, the decision is all mine. But I respect y'all's knowledge and opinions.
Do you think this machine is worth the price (negotiable to some extent), and the obstacles that I'd have to find a way to overcome?
Thank you all again.

Barry

I'd offer $100.00 or less. It's working now, but that machine is close to 50 years old.

I'm really happy with my 1972 A606.  It looks exactly like the one pictured, except mine is white.  I've had to do very little to keep it running like new for the 16 years I've had it.  I hope it never quits, I don't want a new machine!

That is a great model. A friend of mine had that, and it was whisper quiet.
