I recently received a new basket drive for my washer . its almost the same and hoping it will still work . my old basket drive had red springs. the new one has gold springs (do I just swap the springs) also the new one is actually older and has a full clutch lining wheras the one I pulled from my machine has the little clutch discs . will this still work ????? thanks

Yes it will work. The gold springs predated the colored ones. The gold springs were originally on the standard capacity machines until they started coloring them sometime in the early seventies to differentiate between standard, large, and compact/portable capacity machines.

Yes Brandon, Repairguy is correct, use the older-new basket as it is, if you put the stronger-fastbrake red springs on the older design the clutch will not slip properly and may stall the motor when going into spin.

part number

Jon L., so as long as the spin tube length and pulley style matches then it will work ? ive had trouble finding this one because my old basket drive didnt have a part number. the new one is a 38390/303931n and my machine was made in oct of 1980

Correct Brandon the length and correct pulley for the type of belt the washer uses and the rest is interchangeable.
