Hi everyone, on my FaceBook Marketplace, I have the option of buying a maytag twin tub with matching dryer for $75. It’s a two hour drive but I really want the washer. I noticed the dryer is missing the knob and the washer has a cracked knob and I believe the spinner/extractor is missing the plastic topper that has holes in it . both lids are still there however. Is this worth it? I’ve always wanted a twin tub but does anybody have parts available for these And are they too far gone? eBay seems to have nothing for these.

As you probably are well aware NOS parts for these Maytag Porta Pair washers and dryers are rare.

You can try eBay and usual online sources for appliance parts, but many ponds have long since been fished dry.

Failing new your best bet is to locate someone willing to sell used parts, and or try to fashion replacements.

Best of luck!

Complete units can still be found on C/L. Facebook marketplace, etc. Maybe find another one, and combine them.

They don't seem to far gone. Parts are rare. Very rare. Belts can be made by McMaster Carr. I hope my diverter valve never goes as that will be the end. I bought my dryer brand new years ago than the washer years later. I just love them both. Not my daily drivers but so fun to use!
You should be able to find knobs that fit from another source. Hopefully the spinner lid switch would still work but again it could be rigged. Do you know if they run?? Usually the washer belt is dry rotted and the dryer uses 2 belts. No means an expert here but just some
info
