Miele vacuums are

expensive, but they are the "spitzenklasse" for a portable vac.

Have had one for 8 years, what a joy to use. only "con" is its weight, a bit heavy to tote up or down the stairs. Best in single story homes, or best to stay on one floor, as you seem to have done.

Miele S7/U1

We have had our U1 Maverick for 4 years. We just replaced the hose because we frequently stretch it out to sweep the stairs, ceiling, and other high/far surfaces. This is the only issue we have ever had with the machine. It has never clogged. We absolutely love the fact that this machine requires little to no maintenance in comparison to a bagless vacuum. The amount of dust in our house has decreased dramatically since buying this machine. I attribute it to the superior filtration of the bag, but also the amount of junk the vacuum removes from the carpet. Also, the horse hair brush attachment is great for dusting certain surfaces and prevents the dust from being placed back into the air, and eventually being deposited back on another surface. The very first time we used our vacuum, I waited one week to vacuum just so I could use the new one. We had one dog, and approximately 2000 sq. ft. of carpeted area including stairs. We filled the original bag in one day. Now these bags last about 2-3 months. For $14 at Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20% coupon, I can buy a year worth of bags and filters. This is significantly better in my opinion in comparison to cleaning out my bagless vacuum each time before or after use to maintain performance, but also the fact that none of the dust from the canister is being put back into the air when emptying. This machine is better to use and maneuver compared to something bulky and heavy like a Kriby, but does not have the agitation and suction that these machines are known for. Only other machine I could see myself owning is a Riccar with the Tandem Air System, however for the price, I am more than fine with the Miele! Enjoy your new toy! Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks lakewebsterkid!!!

I drove over an hour to a Banks Oreck store to take her for a test drive!! It was love at first sight!! I am keeping her on my second floor and will use her exclusively upstairs for carpet, drapes, under the bed and stairs!!! She’s like my personal German sports car and the Maverick was still on display as well but the owner gave me a great deal on this model which came with extra tools, a box of bags and extra hepa filter and I loved the RED COLOR...thanks for the help and I won’t hesitate to ask.

It sounds like a great deal!
I purchased ours through Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20% coupon while Miele and BBB were running the 20% of sale on vacuums. Out the door with a box of 4 bags I paid just under $250. Considering what people pay for Sharks and Dysons, I feel that this is one heck of a deal!

I got a yellow one about six years ago.
Works very well, However, as previously mentioned, it is cumbersome to use. I don't haul it between floors to use it.

Hard to get repairs in my area as Miele around here is NOT mainstream. So it really doesn't matter about the warranty.
