The installation instructions say an 8 foot drain is ok, and during neutral drain it seems to pump out fine.
However, while spinning, the whirling basket whips up so much froth, even after rinsing, that it won't pump out. This slows the spin speed and leaves a soggy mess.
It's a 15 year old Hotpoint, and my drain is only 6 1/2 feet. Tried minimal detergent (1/4 cup powder). Tried fabric softener. Tried adding white vinegar. Still won't finish draining.
Seems to me the old FF models had a device over the drain to protect the pump and also maybe help with cavitation. I don't think this one does.
Any suggestions?

Or even a recommendation of a new machine which is known to work properly with a high drain?
Thanks!
