17.5 gallons of hot water! It was their first attempt at having a wash arm under the upper rack.  I guess they could not make it work in a more water-saving way without using a better pump/filtration system.

Well, the KDS17 used 18.9 gallons on Soak & Scrub.

The first EU DW used about the same.

But honestly, really can't See how a sub 1kW or 1kW heater can do much on a 3 or 4gal fill that's only in the Machine for a couple of minutes...

KDS17 ... that's with 7 water changes plus an initial half-fill purge.

The cycle sequence variations amongst the three models are interesting.  Courtesy of the more advanced timer, the Superba purged only on Soak, whereas the Imperial purged on all cycles incl Rinse/Hold and the Custom didn't purge.  Custom ran two rinses on Rinse/Hold, Superba and Imperial one rinse.

Early energy saver w/

no heat dry option. Water saving hadn't yet come into it's own. There is one in the neighbors kitchen. Still going strong. Used daily. It's out lasted at least 2 fridges, and ranges. They were other brands.
