Evening All,
Has anyone got any infomation on this Bosch Semi-automatic twin tub from 1962.
What were the keyplates functions, pre-wash - wash - rinse ?
Any info would be great.
Thanks

A semi-automatic means here that it automatically does a whole cycle of prewash, wash and 5 rinses. The only thing you have to do is put the laundry through the spinner afterwards. They work differently in that sense than British twintubs. The keyplates are for choosing programmes and temperatures.

Hi Louis

I initially thought exactly the same as you, but the program dial on the right, looks like it’s painted on, it could be the poor quality photo, but I wondered if there is something different about it.

On the master control, what are the three labels, wash, pump and I can’t read the third?

Cheers

Nathan

No Nathan, the timer is not painted on. lol. It's a pointer behind a window. This machine has a rapid advance timer. The settings on the dial at the left are wash, pump and spin. The wash setting works with the timer, the other two not. Those are just on and off settings, unlike the AEG Turnamat that had it on the timer.

Here are some videos.

Thanks Louis. So not unlike my Miele Twinnie, just some fancy key plates for control.

Cheers

Nathan

Indeed Nathan, not unlike your Miele. But I'm sure this machine used even more water than the Miele. Every respectable German brand had to have a twintub in this style in the 60's.

This Bosch was also available with three controls, so no fancy keyplates. The keyplate models were indeed more expensive than the models with the three controls. Same with the fully automatic frontloaders. One of my aunt bought a Bosch frontloader with keyplates. My mother thought nothing of it, rolled her eyes, bought one with regular controls and saved some money. lol

The keyplate thing went on for quite a while. Here is the successor of this twintub, also available with keyplates.

Morning Louis,

I haven't been able to arrange collection yet, but hopefully in the coming weeks, it is a little bit more than I wanted to spend as well 230 euros, on top of the shipping it would be quite costly.

I've just had a Perobot sent over from Germany which is great & works perfectly.

Regards
Keith
