I have tried to post this several times, can't seem to get it right.

I have been looking at this site & it seems there are many people familiar with vintage appliances. I could use some help if possible. Mine is the Patrician "Energy Saver IV" Dish washer. I usually use the "Normal Wash" mode. It fills with water, heats, washes, then drains. But it continues to attempt to drain, but I think all the water is gone. After about 20 minutes of attempting to drain, it changes to the "Rinse" light but then stops working completely. I can press the "Cancel cycle" button & it takes me back to square one. Same thing happens with the other modes, wash is fine, it drains the water out fine, but will not move on to the next cycle. It worked fine for the past 11 years, just kept the screens clean. Any help will be appreciated, I want to keep this dishwasher.

Hi Joe, What is your Model #

It sounds like you either have a bad timer or something stuck in the drain valve which will hold it open which could cause the machine to drain the water out when ever the main motor is running.

Also try the P&Ps cycle and see if it has the same problem.

John, thank you for your advice. I will look into cleaning the timer and making sure the drain is clear. I'll find the model # let you know.

Joe

Should be a KDP-19. It sounds like the timer is toast, part# 4162544. Obsoleted long ago but someone here may have a spare they're willing to let go of.

Cleaning the drain model KDP-19

Where would I clean the drain on this model? I cleaned the screen, but can't get under it unless I disassemble the motor. Is it inside the bottom panel? I don't want to randomly take this apart as the plastic interior pieces are a little baked.

Thank you guys

If the drain valve was stuck open, it wouldn't fill and wash on the first cycle. This is a timer issue.

I bought a timer off Ebay & installed it. No change, it fills with water, heats, washes, drains, but once it goes to rinse, the "Sani-heat" & "Rinse" lights stay on & its stuck there. If I hit "Cancel" for 2 seconds it will move past it & finish all cycles. I did notice something with the soap dispensers, the "Prewash" does not open at all but the "Wash" opens. Would that cause my issues?

Thanks guys.

KitchenAid Patrician By Hobart - Repair help REPAIRED

I found an old school repairman & he figured out the problem. It was the water inlet, one of the solenoids was bad. They put a double solenoid valve on these, but he replaced it with a single. He said no dishwasher uses double solenoids anymore. I'm just happy its fixed.

Thanks for your input guys.
