Has anyone ever tried a, "treddle for a power snake" as a replacement for the tube/ball on the Maytag 'S' machines? |

![]() I’ve not tried this substitute of the safety pedal. But my Mom did have one of these safety models that she bought new in 1969 around the time Maytag first began to equip their wringer washers with this safety feature. The Maytag dealer told her that most users hated the feature and he could bypass it for her before delivery if she wanted, which she elected to have done.
To bypass the safety pedal, just remove it from the leg and plug the hole with a stove bolt thats the same size as the hole where the tube for the pedal was installed. Then you can use the wringer without having to step on that stupid pedal.
