The back pages of the manual for my grandmother's Conlon automatic ironer, (which still works beautifully), feature a range of laundry appliances. I've searched the internet for information on any of their products or this company and found almost nothing. Except for a Department of Labor ruling on an employee wage/hour issue related to their bankruptcy in 1958. Does anyone have information on these washers, dryers or ironers? Has anyone spotted one in the wild? I looked up all of the addresses I could find, and more nothing. Please advise.
Just for interest, I've added a scan of the front and back covers. The factories pictured look substantial enough to have left some historical record. Maybe someone in the Chicago area knows something?
I would suggest contacting historical societies in the Joliet and Cicero areas. They should be able to tell you where the facilities were located, and may have company records.
I found a reference to the company in the April 21, 1946 edition of the Cicero Life newspaper. It mentioned an upcoming expansion of the Joliet plant.
The Moore Div. made wood and coal stoves, and furnaces.
