I remember the woman (I think she was Helena Carter, the mom in "Invaders From Mars)in the television ad who told us in her New Yoak accent, that the new "Kelvinatah, had no geas to get out of ohdeh." I've often wondered if these machines had seal and bearing leaking problems. Any information or correction welcome.

Kelvinators were far from trouble-free. One of the most optimistic stores I ever saw was a Kelvinator coin laundry. Kelvinator machines were marketed as CO OP branded washers and while the mechanism was not unusually problematic, John (Combo52) said that switches and other electrical components were not dependable.

Gosh, before anything electrical became an issue in a coin-op scenario, I'd think the agitator boots would be first to go!

The Kelvinator machines are interesting for sure, but I can see electrical issues and issues with the main seals leaking. If you wanted a machine that was trouble free that would be going decades later, a Maytag is the answer and yes Maytags had their issues too but were far simpler compared to a Kelvinator.
