 Check the flat tube (attached to the underside of the top rack) that sends water into the upper wash arm. I could be cracked or otherwise have sprung a leak.
The other thing that could be causing trouble is the check valve. Do you hear an urping sound coming from the sink/disposal drain or the air gap? That's an indicator of a bad check valve, which is a rubber flap that can get stuck and as a result, less water is delivered to the upper wash arm. It's easy to replace and GE (yes, GE) part number WD1X1486 will fit into your check valve housing perfectly. The thing that's likely to give you grief is getting the lower access panel properly back in place. It may take you several tries to get it to hang correctly from the top edge.
These are nice machines. I had one for a few years. They're just a notch below a top-of-the-line KitchenAid.
Here's a picture of the check valve housing, which fits into the hose coming off the pump.

Cleaning filter worked Just to close this one out--cleaning that filter seems to have solved the problem. Appreciate the tip towards the replacement part though, now I know how to deal with that if it crops up. | ||

Digging this up 2 years later. That flat tube on top is totally cracked and needs to be replaced. Clues or tips on where I can find one? Working the google webs now, nothing popping up yet. Thanks in advance! Dryden, New York. | ||
