I was using Purex and ERA and Arm & Hammer for the longest of time because they were cheap and figured they were just as good being as our clothes don't really get dirty dirty. Surprisinly it's about the same price in Cdn dollars.. about 1.99 to 2.99 for a big jug. It wasn't until I switched to Persil a couple of years ago that I realized how dull and dingy our clothes had been. I was really surprised at the difference. Haven't used it since.

Purex always has been and still is a bargain brand laundry detergent.
Their powders were filled with fillers, and liquid versions plenty of water. For laundry that is not very soiled and or has serious stains suppose Purex will suffice. It's on sale at Rite Aid in our area often enough but don't bother as have no need. In general have noticed many detergents have been on special offer lately. Some week after week, and or at least twice per month. If not at one store, then try another. Methinks manufacturers cranked up production when things were flying off shelves due to covid-19 induced madness. Now that situation as calmed down and panic buying has stopped, they're now stuck with excess product that must be sold before expiring. Liquid products have a shorter shelf life than powder. If left too long and gets near or past sell by date entire product might not be at full power. Persil (Henkel USA version) has been on sale every other week in our area, something that didn't happen previously. Same for Tide liquid and pods..... |

Some gross exaggerations on Purex, ha.
I frequently use the Purex Free & Clear for everyday laundry. It washes well and rinses out easily. I just use the prescribed amounts as listed on the bottle. I can't recall using it on anything badly stained. For oil and grease stains I use Tide or Persil. But for everyday laundry, bedding, towels, etc., it works very well. I like it better than All, Arm and Hammer and tremendously better than Sun products. Purex does a fine job for a bargain detergent. If you see a good price on it, grab it. |
