We had GE Filter-Flo washers when I was growing up. Dad was a GE service tech, and Mom was a registered nurse. About every 5 years mom's white nursing uniforms started to get oil spots on them, and then dad would replace the transmission in the washing machine. |

This had nothing to due with you spraying WD-40 on things.
GE FF washers were like air-cooled VWs back in the day, you replaced the engines in VWs and transmissions in GE washers often and both companies had good factory remanufactured units available at the time.
You can either try rebuilding your transmission [ big messy job ] or find a good used one or another machine.
