I've been on the hunt for one of these for years, this is on ebay but too rich for me, thought someone here might be interested.

Thank you for sharing

They were not wildly practical, but they tapped into the pressure cooker craze and the popularity of deep wells on electric ranges.  They were heavy to lift in and out of the deep wells, even empty, let alone when  full and hot, especially in a rear position on the cooktop, but a pressure cooker collection is not complete without all three makes.

Interesting item

That cooker I would use, and it frees up storage space too.  That's if I had a stove it fit in, which is something I do not anticipate.

I like Mirro's disc shaped multi-pressure weight better than Presto's three-part nesting type.   I tend to alternate between my 6-quart Mirro of similar vintage to the insertable above, but lower and wider, and a ~1970 stainless Presto 4-quart.  Both are a pleasure to use, and the Presto affords the added pleasure of machine washing.

Nothing is wrong with them, but Hans, you have to admit that most men have far more upper body strength for lifting a full pressure cooker than the average housewife.  Even foods that don't require fast cooling under the faucet require the cooker to be lifted out of the well to cool. according to the operating instructions, just like the instructions for a stove top pressure cooker call for the cooker to moved off the hot surface unit when cooking is completed.
