HI all!

So I bought a beautiful poppy red stove from the 70s about 6 months ago and now im itching to get a 60s or 70s fridge. My dream would be to find a matching red one, but its looking like its going to be unlikely that i find one. What do you guys think about pairing the stove with a harvest gold or avocado fridge? Weird combo or ok?

I think you're actually lucky that poppy red isn't that easy to find because Frigidaire -- in my opinion -- is the least reliable make where vintage refrigerators are concerned, and in my experience, they make more noise.  Your best bet is a Whirlpool or Coldspot (Sears house brand made by Whirlpool) as those seem to run forever, or a GE, which is also good, and either of those brands will run a lot more quietly than a Frigidaire.

I'm not a big fan of coppertone, but I think that would be the most complementary color to your stove.  Harvest gold would be my second choice.  I don't mind avocado, but with a red stove, that would be like the holiday season all year 'round, and two months of that nonsense every year is already more than enough.

I agree with Ralph. Coppertone or Harvest Gold Whirlpool or Kenmore of that vintage.

I tend to think Almond might compliment the Poppy best,  but might not go well with the rest of the kitchen...

You beat me to it .... Or get it resprayed by a car shop? It surely would make sense to keep a more energy saving fridge than trying to keep an old one going????

Rick— Deep bonus points for the Natalie Kalmus reference!

Kitchen decor: If the color wheel (thanks, Ralph!) steers you toward green, you could have a wonderful, Italian-themed kitchen. Also: that poppy red Frigidaire range is beautiful.

Gibson also made appliances in Poppy, but I doubt their refrigerators are any more reliable than Frigidaire at that time.

Were actually quite good and fairly reparable, just skip the ice maker.

But best bet is to paint something much newer, 60s and 70s refs are huge power eaters, but they do keep the kitchen warm in the winter and HOT in the summer.

[H'wood considered her a pill but she was always right.  If only Josh Logan had asked her about South Pacific!]

[There are 3 color wheels:  Additive, subtractive, and complementary/decorator.  There are some surprises,

like yellow and brown are really luminance variants of the same color.]

There are kits out there that are peel and stick for fridge, mostly to go to SS, but there may be colors out there.  Paint would be much more durable but failing that the stick on may be an option. One of my nephews had his car shrink wrapped, might be a option too.
