Sometimes (but not always) if the leak is coming from the pump seam a couple of washes with really hot water expands the seal and leak stops for good. Have you washed in hot water in the machine (very hot water like having the water heater set at 145-150?).
If that doesn't do the trick you can take the pump out and take off the cover. Use remove the old seal and any extra cork material that is suck to the edge. The you can then cut a new seal with an exacto-knife by going to the hardware store or an auto parts store and buying "cork on a roll". You can get it on Amazon just as easily: amzn.to/3xGFAjL... |

Scratch what I said about using cork to seal that pump. I've only worked on older Frigidaire washers which used cork seals. The 1/18 pump seems to use a rubber ring gasket.
After the hot water trick the first thing I would try is to simply tighten the screws that hold the pump housing together, sometimes they loosen a bit over the years with vibration. After that you can try to remove the rubber gasket and clean it and soak it in hot water. If that doesn't do the trick you can put a bead of automotive grade silicone on top of the gasket which should seal it up. I use this stuff for Permatex Blue silicone for washer repairs like this: amzn.to/35Gnlin... As for the rust I would take a 3M scrubber pad and use gently to try to remove the rust. If there is a bare spot where the rust was you can use porcelain chip repair paint to coat the spot.
