This will take a lot of research.

Who made the Combination Washer-Dryer for Montgomery Wards? Not who built it.

Answer will come later.....clock is ticking .... Jetcone.

Hint - UAN.

I can tell you that it was a vented model with no lint filter; large quantities of lint are expelled through the exhaust vent. It was rated not acceptable by Consumers Union. It had only one drying heat, judged too high for safe drying of some synthetics or the proper drying of wash and wear fabrics. Like the Westinghouse WD 5, the wash cycle took 45 minutes and, even though it was a vented model, the complete wash and dry program took 3 minutes longer than the condenser WD 5 to dry: 1 hr. 47 minutes versus 1 hr and 44 minutes.

Who made it not who built it?  First, what's the distinction?

Too late for Baxter Stove Co, too early for WCI.  Too largescale for Dominion.

I'm stumped.  Ohio State Reformatory?

Perhaps Jeff (JEB) can provide more info about "Appliance Television Company" in Mansfield.  Was it a division of Westinghouse set up specifically to do business with MW? Or a separate company that used Westinghouse facilities to manufacturer their products? It's origin is very obvious; though the document states it's a 1961 model, the cabinet is basically that of the 1955 Wash 'n Dry Laundromat.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Westinghouse had something to do with the “Appliance and Television Co.” of Mansfield, Ohio. Maybe it was the poor bastard step child of Westinghouse where store brands were manufactured.

I agree with Tom in reply #25, the cabinet looks like a ‘55 Westy slant front. I doubt that this would have been allowed if Westinghouse didn’t have some hand in the manufacture of this combo machine.

My grandma had a ‘61 Montgomery Wards FL and it looked just like a ‘61Westinghouse FL except for being badged as a “Signature” which of course was the Montgomery Wards name for their appliances built by other parent manufactures..

Montgomery Ward Westinghouse built combination washer dryer

All who said Westinghouse are correct this machine rolled off the same assembly lines as the westing houses.

Even though there was technically another name applied to it so that Westinghouse dealers wouldn’t be upset.

Given its poor performance, Westinghouse dealers would not have much, if anything, to be upset about.

That's kind of like saying that GE Capital didn't take on Montgomery Wards credit operations in the late '80s...it was Monogram Retail Credit Card Services, which in essence wrote a check to Montgomery Ward every evening for the previous days' sales.
