It looks like they used a photo from the archives for their advertisement for the set they are trying to sell.

Yeah Kenny posted these about a month ago and I’ve debated on it. There is no way to message the seller in the ad but I sent him a message on Facebook and he gave me a short reply and didn’t answer all of my questions. Then when I messaged again to find out exactly what city they were in, because even though it lists a city in the ad that’s not always where they are, I received no response.

Sounds like a scam.

If they aren’t asking all of the questions and aren’t telling you where they live I wouldn’t bother. Sounds dubious, and sounds like a setup of some kind. If they really have the oddasity to use a photo from the archives and they know it’s from this site, they clearly are trying to set someone up from this site and possibly might try to rob you or rob your collection of vintage machines.

Sorry ya'll I'm just trying to help source appliances. If I had known I wouldn't have posted this one. Looks like the profile was made on April 9th, and the profile picture has the box around it that clearly shows it was copied.

No worries! Thanks for posting. I’ve found a couple of these ads on marketplace that give little information and do not like to respond. Maybe someone will have better luck.

I hate non responsive sellers

It’s so annoying when you find a beautiful vintage set and the seller is horrible to deal with. Melvin this would be perfect for you if he responded.

Others have raised concerns that this probably is not a picture of the actual set but one that has been lifted from possibly this site. I also don’t like that the ad only has a buy it now option. No way to negotiate or ask questions of the seller without sending money first. I’m not sure if this is something new as I had not seen ads set up like this before or if it truly is a scam which I want no part of.

I can message the seller

hobarthero's profile picture
There is still an option to message the seller on my end. But yes I would never pay for machines in advance without having conversations with the sellers. I normally prefer to do deals in cash in person anyway. This ensures I get the item in the condition I want and no one can try to run away with the money I sent.

Shannon I really appreciate your generous offer but I really have no where to put them at the moment. I’m really pretty sure the Norge set is going to have to go in the living room. Lol! I agree with cash in person transactions 100%.

With only one small picture apparently copied from here and an almost empty Facebook profile it looks like this is something you should avoid.

Hey Melvin, I've known other members here who have had members of their collection serve as furniture. You'll be in great company.

Lol! I would be the one to run utilities to the living room.

Washers in the house ...

dadoes's profile picture

Melvin, I have three washers in my master bathroom (usable, connected to the tub faucet).  GE portable in the MBR closet.  Two intact machines in the living room.  Part of a disassembled machine in the living room (rest of it in the garage).  All of another disassembled machine distributed between the living room, hallway, and a spare bedroom.  And the pair in the utility room.

I would be killed!

If I had all my machines in the house you’d be reading my obituary lol. Luckily I have a huge space at work which I can use for myself, and if I lost my job (God Forbid) they’d still fit in the garage at my house. I love that you guys can put machines in your bedrooms or living rooms, that’s super cool actually. A lighted panel washer nightlight seems pretty awesome!

Shannon I have a very large space that has been filled to the brim. Now it’s time to start culling. I never wanted the collection to overflow into the house but I sure can’t let such nice machines sit outside, now can I? For nearly 16 years the ‘71 whirlpool washer lit up the small service porch each night for about 6 hours on a timer. I do miss that a lot.

I’m already thinning my collection

hobarthero's profile picture
I’ve already started prioritizing which machines to keep. I’m probably going to get rid of some in bulk pretty soon so keep a lookout for that post. It will be DW’s and washers etc.

Shannon I’m glad to hear that you are actively trying to keep your herd thin. I keep saying I m going to and I’m going to hold myself to it this year as soon as work starts to slow down.
