Saw that listing when doing a CL search and posting various finds, but didn't get around to it for various reasons.
Briefly toyed with idea of nabbing that machine, then realized it was just too large for our purposes, so that was that. Yogitunes and others happily are resident Neptune experts so you're in good hands with keeping that unit going for ages. While Neptune was the camel that broke Maytag's back, had always felt if they hadn't rushed things, but a bit more into R&D, *and* made certain changes earlier they would have had a winner. This instead of the stinker (almost literally), that helped long arch rival Whirlpool get their mitts on Maytag. Old man Maytag must be spinning in his grave about that turn of events. When PC Richards went bankrupt as at local store seeing what there was. Sort of was impressed by Maytag Neptune models on floor, they looked like some serious bit of kit. |

Received a sample box from cannot recall where, and like a fool used entire contents in my new (and first)front loader, Malber.
Within several minutes was having a Bobby Brady suds fest as froth gushed out of dispenser drawer and anywhere else it could. One telephone call to Malber service told how to solve issue, and that was it for one and Tide "HE" powder. In honor of OP's latest find! From our own Swestoyz! |

Hi Greg, This is a great find, a real modern classic, if only I could find a NIB Calypso.
Reply #1, Hi Laundress, Maytag made a LOT of money on the FL Neptunes they were not the cause of Maytag's demise at all these were not cheap machines.
But like every all new MT product built since WW2 there were problems that MT worked hard to correct.
Maytags main problems were from all the junk brands they bought and poured money into and they ended up ruining their hard earned reputation, most people were very pleased with their Neptunes.

John is right . The PAV , MAV, and SAV Maytags were real stinkers. |

Neptunes were bashed because 1) Maytag's marketing of the "new frontloader" brought them to strong consumer attention and 2) the class action lawsuit related to mold/odor ... which, go figure, is still a problem with prit'much every washer on the market due to a) the push for ice-cold washing and b) continuing user bad habits. |

I've had a Neptune MAH7500 for about 20 years. It's a work horse. In retrospect I wisely got the extended warranty, and sure enough before that was out, it needed some major repair. As I recall, the big drive wheel at the rear had cracked. Replaced free of charge. Has been trouble free since then, although it's possible the belt needs replacing and/or the motor moved to tighten things up a bit.
If I'm not mistaken, the 7500 doesn't have wax motors; it uses solenoids instead, and those have never failed. They are a bit loud, though. Of course I might be wrong, and I'm too lazy to go check the manual about it.
