At an old house on Zillow. Looks like it says JCPenney on the back panel. Two switches so assume it has a fluorescent light, and maybe electronic ignition? Didn't know JCPenney sold these.

Hardwick Built Range

These were well built good baking gas ranges,

Maytag sold these a few years after they bought Hardwick but closed the Hardwick plant and went to using the inferior Magic Chef ranges that MT also purchased, just another stupid move that put MT out of business, profits over quality.

The two switches are for the oven light and the florescent panel light.

Yeah, in the days of JCP appliances General Electric could provide everything BUT gas cooking...

We had a Maytag branded Hardwick for a few years. Nice range.

That is what I miss about my Tappan gas range and these kind of gas ranges in general. All the burners were the same size. I much prefer using a burner for simmer than high heat. The Frigidaire slide in I have now I need simmer plates and they still don't do as good a job my Tappan did.

We had

a MayWick, and it was am excellent baker. I also liked the lift off oven door. Made it easier to clean the oven.. Of course, I do prefer true Self cleaning, but a lift off door is next best.
