I recently consulted and was assisted by many members of this site to provide invaluable experience, guidance, knowledge and assistance in finding parts to completely overhaul this unit. For further detail about the process feel free to review the progress as blogged in thread number: 87334. Despite the success, my significant other wants to purchase a unit which is not reliant on gas. She is not fond of having to refire the pilot as I do turn it off during extended times when the unit is not being used in favor of the old school method of drying laundry on a line.

I am not looking for $, I just want to find it a new home, hopefully where it's uniqueness is valued. I have pictures posted under my photo album, WMJPate. If you have interest please contact me. The unit is located in the South Suburbs of the Chicagoland area. Feel free to e-mail me @ patejdlwj@gmail.com or through this site.

You can update it with electronic ignition using parts from the post 1975 Stream of Heat models.

FREE - Maytag Gas DG606 Halo of Heat Dryer. Still Available

Thanks for the recommendation but I don't think I can sell my wife on that at this stage. But I will look into it. What should I expect to pay for this enhancement, assuming I can find one. :)

You can harvest the parts from any Newton built Stream of Heat gas dryer from 1976-2006. Won't be hard to find, even for free ;)
