Has anyone seen a GE with half black doors like this before?

Not in person, but a few over the years have shown up in for sale items.

The early self cleaning ovens did not have windows and this gave the doors some style and, perhaps, some extra insulation for the self cleaning oven's door near the handle since the glass did not sit directly on the porcelain door panel.

What I don't get is washers with smoked windows.  Can't see diddly.  What's the point?

Rather like fat-free half and half.

I like this in white - first one I've seen.  Over the years there have been several show up in Coppertone.

Gotcha, great info, thanks! It definitely looks like a transitional form.
