Is this Maytag Quiet series dishwasher considered a TRUE/GENUINE Maytag dishwasher? |

@jamiel I've heard that the recall was over fire hazard concerns with the heat dry option. |

If this model came on in 2006, as the newsreel above states, would this not be a Whirlpool design? |

These came out around 2001,It was an all new design built in an all new factory in Tennessee.
It was an interesting DW, fairly easy to work on, but like every new Maytag appliance introduced WW2 it had lots of problems.
When we did update training with MT in 2004 the trainer told us that there were over 40 improvements already.
The machine did get a lot better and when WP bought MT in 2006 this new factory and DW design was one of only a few WP did not close down.
Whirlpool told us that they were keeping this DW design partly because of the modern factory etc. WP continued to build this DW for about 2 years but then closed to whole factory and design down because the DW just had more problems that they wanted to deal with.
WP brought out their TT DW around 2001 also, it was called a Point-Voyager platform and while it certainly was not a perfect DW it was sure a lot better than MTs TT design.
Today out in the field we seldom see a TT MT any more, I did fix a fancy Jenn-Air SS tank version a few weeks ago that was still in good shape, the customer only runs it about once a week on a light cycle with basically clean dishes.

@Combo52 I've also heard that the only genuine Maytag design that Whirlpool still sells is their double-drawer design. Is this true? |

WP sold F&P built drawer DWs under the KA name till they bought MT.
MT was just about to introduce a drawer DW that they designed them selves, WP went ahead and introduced MTs design after they took over.
The MT design looked really good, more heavily built the F&Ps, it was sold under the KA & Kenmore names for just a few years and WP scraped the whole mess.
The MT design unfortunately did not clean nearly as well as F&Ps and had all kinds of service problems, we have just a few customers that still have one of the MT designed machines, the last one I recall working on was in the Watergate for Ruth Bader Ginsburg, it need a new drawer track.
