for Sears. No doubt sold at the everything goes closing sale of the nearby Lincoln Park store two-three years ago. Possibly even a former employee's. The last year before my dad retired, he used to get his service route schedule there. They at least
made it more convenient for them than driving into Livonia every day just to pick it up. Then they were usually given customers closer to home so they'd be there at day's end. Brand Central days, when they were selling and servicing name brands as well as Kenmore.
Such a waste. I miss the stores, even K Mart. I went to the mall yesterday and bought a Waterford crystal 2021 snow star ornamnet at Macy's. Cheaper than direct from Waterford.
Pretty dead all around.
This time of year, mall's used to be packed. Only twp places still in the food court. A wok place, and an Indian one. Loerd & Taylor boarded up, and the Sears anchor. I didn't even go the the JC Penny end. That mall opened in 1975. Macy's was still JL Hudson, before Marshall Field's. They used to host a champaign fountain Christmas party for employee's after Closing the Sunday before Christmas. For Thanksgiving, all the managers served them turkey dinners in the Hudson's restaurant.
