After moving a few months back, I removed the new Frigidaire dishwasher and replaced it with a near (but not quite) vintage GE Tower Wash. I posted pictures of one of my first Bob-Loads.
The dishwasher, then had the newer active filtration. Great for very small food particles. I tested it with my favorite test of one cup of used coffee grounds. Cleared the water up very fast. BUT the problem with the newer filtration systems is that they use a loose ball (just slightly larger than a marble, as a check valve in the food particle collection chamber. I have had horrible times with this filtration system causing the dishwasher not to drian. Large food particle get between the ball and the ball seat and keep it from sealing. Hence, no draining of the machine. I have seen many of these on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace where people are selling them saying, "Doesn't Drain." So, I had an old GE with the good old, an exceedingly reliable, passive filter. I removed the door of the machine and put it on the older GE body. Now it drains, as it should.. (PHOTOS GOT A LITTLE OUT OF ORDER, NOT ALL GO IN ORDER FROM DIRTY TO CLEAN, HA) This post was last edited 11/24/2021 at 15:39 |

Thanks, Dan. That is "Miss Ellie." She was watching me take the pictures, no doubt wanting to make sure she got into them. But anyway, little food waste escapes the fantastic coverage of GE's "Power Tower."
Originally the machine was probably built in the early 2000's. I took the main body to the junk yard so I can't look up the date from the serial number.. The older machine, I put the new door onto, has the manufacturer's label missing so I can't give you an exact date. But it has the newer designed wash arm so it probably is mid to latter nineties. For the machine that had the newer active filtration, are you referring to the newer GE tower wash models that have the round filter underneath the wash arm? I had one of those for a while and I found it to be mostly pointless. |
