If I'm remembering correctly, they used to sell those in catalogs like JCPenny or Wards.

I don't stink that is the tilt out mechanism; stacking, yes, tilting, no.

I love the reference to 22lbs. Maybe 9 lbs capacity at best.

Unless they are referencing the weight of the unit? 🤣

These were imported from Japan, not sure who built them, the real capacity is about 5 pounds.

As a teenager, I went to the Home Show and, of course, visited the Speed Queen distributor booth almost first thing.  This was the very early 80's so the perforated basket washers and redesigned dryers were displayed in their full glory, impressive looking with gleaming stainless steel and a bit of (fake) chrome.  They also had the ContempoMate set and another set, compact but intended for permanent installation, much like the Norge compact washers and dryers.  The (patient) man at the booth told me they were made by Toshiba in Japan, the washer's agitator made three complete rotations in one direction and three in the other direction.  The dryer was only 115-120v.  The set didn't last long, but they were truly the most exciting thing at the show that year, as least for me.
