Former owner must have done LOTS of cold washes…look at that dark ring on the agitator😫

It’s going to need a complete tear down since the former owner was too cheap to use warm water or quality detergent like Tide or any P&G detergent and more than likely is all gummed up on the outer tub surfaces and inner tub surfaces you can’t see.

Definitely worth it for the price. Washer is a 1986 model built in 1991.

I cannot imagine having fabrics washed in that washer next to my skin.

Scum lines are common nowadays.

It’s direct drive. I don’t think the belt drive portables ever came with a dual action agitator since the long stroke agitation from the belt drive transmissions were more than enough for that tiny tub and a dual action agitator would have been a bit overkill for the belt drive portables.

I have the Whirlpool thin twin with a NG dryer version of it and I simply adore it.

I wonder how it would behave with this agitator. Is it better than the 8-vane agitator?

I like the dual action agitator in these machines. After about 4 minutes of high agitation it shifts to low speed on the regular cycle.

Agitator

Do they make a straight vane agitator to put in this little guy? I really want to find a belt drive version of this with the gold agitator

That’s a good portable washer. Excellent cleaning. And quick!

I had an early to mid-1970s avocado LK portable pair and it had a white straight vane agitator. I never saw a gold agitator in these in any published Sears ads.
