I picked up this set today from a used appliance store, Models GLTF1670AS1/GLEQ642AS2. Dryer is electric. Serial for both states February 2006. The washer's bearings are shot so I am going to disassemble the washer tomorrow. Hopefully the spider shaft isn't too damaged, Otherwise I am going to need a donor machine or apply a cheap temporary fix using waterproof SKF or Timken Bearings. I have disassembled and cleaned the dryer already. I removed ALL the lint and the bounce dryer bar holder from it. I discovered that the element in Frigidaire Bearing Hitch Dryers is 4500W compared to the typical 5400W or the too high wattage 5600W heating element in Pile of crap GE Dryers. Maytag Halo of Heat dryers apparently have a 4800W Heating Element as stated by user Maytag85. The High-Limit thermostat is quite sensitive and I heard it shut off when I opened the door and didn't restart the dryer after 15 seconds. I saw a video of one with the door open and the High-Limit thermostat cut off the heating element after 15 seconds. For those of you that hate the Frigidaire bearing-hitch dryers. I agree on one thing that it gets HOT and FAST! I won't overload my machines and I shouldn't have problems with scorching/burning or poor washer performance. I removed all the lint from the shroud around the heating element. The washer has a noisy motor also which is what I would prefer because my long-lost GLTR1670AS1 had a noisy motor and honestly I love the sound. I linked a playlist of videos of another Frigidaire Gallery with a noisy motor. I love the spin cycle noise of when it ramps up from 500RPM to 950RPM. Hopefully my spider shaft isn't too damaged or else I will have to find a donor machine or a good used spider for not too expensive. $50 or less please (excluding shipping)

good luck on that repair :)

i replaced bearings on a 1998 Gallery and it wasn't too bad of a job-i left the front half of the tub in the machine and seal and bearings were just standard parts-ring that holds the seal in has heat-staked in place,so used some SS screws to attach that ring. The 1998 machine has a brushed motor, while the 2000 and 2003 machines have inverter driven induction motors

I have disassembled the washer and I found that the spider had very little corrosion. I thought that electrolysis would have destroyed it and it would be just hanging in there but nope. The spider is fine. I saw very little buildup when I disassembled the washer. My dad had to hit the shaft with a hammer while protecting it with a block of wood. It was a pain to get off but it's done now. I have ordered bearings and they should arrive tomorrow (Tomorrow is a saying because I posted this at midnight lol) or Thursday. I honestly haven't been this excited to restore a machine since I got my Whirlpool Calypso. These machines are somewhat common. I see a dozen or so a year. The last 2 I saw before this one, 1 had a broken spider and the other was fine and I should have taken it but I wasn't planning on getting another and being heartbroken from another spider failure. But since I see them so often I figured I might as well get another one. I wasn't planning on this until my dad brought home a POS Whirlpool Duet and Frigidaire Built Kenmore new style whirlpool 27" dryer knockoff. The duet was the worst machine I ever used in my "2 months of misery". Consistent dispenser issues, involuntarily dispensing fabric softener during the wash cycle. I want to send the duet to the crusher/shredder but my dad wants to sell it. The modern Frigidaire built Kenmore new style Whirlpool 27" dryer knockoff was serviced by me and my father twice in a 2 week period. Had to reball the heater relay on the controller board and the motor relay shorted closed and had to replace the relay. I want to take the motor out and keep it because it's interchangeable with a Frigidaire Bearing-Hitch/Ball-Hitch/Rear Coil dryer whatever you want to call it and send the Kenmore to the crusher/shredder. I wanted this set back because the duet made similar sounds to the washer and the dryer wasn't a stupid bearing hitch model and is a stupid pile of crap.

Despite what the collar looks like. It's not rough on my fingers and the seal kit I ordered comes with a 5 year warranty.
