We pulled out this KitchenAid two drawer dishwasher a few weeks ago, I don’t think it has any fatal problems, you can definitely tell it was designed by Maytag by the components and wiring etc.

Maytag was working on this in about to introduce it when whirlpool bought out Maytag.

It’s a really interesting and pretty well-built machine definitely better built in the fisher&paycals however they did not perform as well.

If anybody’s interested in the machine let me know it’s a freebie, otherwise it will get recycled not enough of them out there that I think I’ll bother saving parts from this.

The Locked light largely hidden beneath the countertop edge ... presumably the Lock function is for locking the controls, thus the light is visible when the drawer is opened as a reminder of the status.

F&P models have a two-step Lock function ... first level locks the controls, second level closes the drawer lids to safety-lock the drawer from opening.  Mine also has an option to auto-lock the drawer whenever it's closed, press Power to open it.

My brother and his SO have this unit. They like it and say it performs well.
I found out not too long ago it’s a Maytag design. Found their patent docs. But it’s KA branded.
Wash arm is certainly old MT language. But I found it interesting the pump/filter is basically a skinny pancake Point Voyager. Drain pump has the spikey “disposer” blades that made it into the current Gen MT Dual Power Filter line.
Interesting DNA. Definitely a collector’s item now.

The design was also sold as Kenmore Elite, Maytag MDD8000, and Jenn-Air JDD4000.

Those boxes are great if you have back issues like me.
I've been looking for a F&P Deal for a long time to replace our Whirlpool in GA.
I wish you were closed. I would come and pick it up

I'd love to learn more about these, this is probably the first time i've ever seen the inside of one. what is their washing performance like, are they any good?

I have the last incarnation of F&P version

They really do perform flawlessly. The kitchen is always tidy as no dishes sat waiting for the DW to finish and even if its running there is usually a drawer waiting for lunch pots etc. Can't see me going back to a full size one ever again as I got fed up waiting to fill the machine so it could go on.

Why isn't their one posted on youtube?

I would pick it up if I was closer!

I have photos attached of the kenmore brochure. I remember the sales person telling me the spin spray bar was the only reason why it could have nsf sanitary badge. Claiming it was better than F&P.
It’s funny to see that quiet is 52dba.

Sani Rinse

dadoes's profile picture

A service manual I have for the KA models references Sani Rinse as heating to 155°F.

My F&P heats the final rinse to 163°F on the Heavy cycle but ends the rinse at that point so maybe doesn't hold 155°F+ long enough to qualify as a sanitizing rinse.
