POD G.E. Vintage Dishwashers

Through new home and apartment builders GE sold millions of dishwashers in this time period and the good thing about all these dishwashers being installed in kitchens is people got used to having a dishwasher and when they failed they bought another one very seldom another GE however.

GE dishwashers in this time. We’re pretty poor performers they had decent reliability until they rusted out but if they were used daily they lasted anywhere from about 6 to 12 years or so.

The fact that dishwasher had a standard size made for huge sales for all the manufacturers like whirlpool Maytag KitchenAid and D&M Kenmore, even Waste-King sold a lot of DWs because Gas tubs rusted so badly that people were attracted to Wks fake SS tubs.

GE finally had to come to grips with the problem of the rusted out machines and went to the plastic tubs first and that solved that problem , but only their high-end dishwashers with the filter systems did a good job but they still had a crappy pump that leaked and was noisy because they still used a $7 pump and motor in their TOL models.

Checkrate/Likes 2 GE Dishwashers were ubiquitous in the 60's, 70's and beyond. Although they wouldn't get a soil-separator (particle filter) until the early 80's or so, they were simple and lasted a very long time. The Potscrubber 1200 and 2400 models with their passive filters would take care of the problem of redeposited food particles very nicely, and still last virtually forever. Fast-forward to my purchase of a house with a BOL GE Dishwasher. It's performance was mediocre, and it caught on fire all by itself, early one morning while running a delayed wash cycle.
