Hi,
I recently picked up a alleys whirlpool 2196 and noticed it was leaking from the tub so I took the tinting off and noticed a lot of rust (any goo way to fix it?).
Tried taking the surgilator off but it is really stuck on (I tried many different ways but just deformed the agitator)
any help would be appreciated.

Oh and the tub ring won’t snap on.

It’s a pity if you’ve wrecked the agitator, because that was a beautiful machine. Did the bolt come out of the agitator cap? If it has, you need to take the bolt out of the top of the agitator.

To get mine off, I set a fan heater up on the side of the machine and pointed it at the centre of the agitator. It got hot enough that I had to use a towel to hold it, but it ended up lifting right off.

I’ll try that

If I wrecked the agitator I’ll probably just buy a used one.

the machine was low use as they thought it used too much water, does look to be in good condition but the rust and the really noisy motor (dry bearing) make me think otherwise, planning on getting it cleaned up nicely and put in use. It was free so I can’t complain.
