Damn good!
Nice to see all the usual faces together again and having fun. Whenever see pictures of these meets am reminded strongly of "Last of The Summer Wine". You know, group of old friends coming together, but always up to something... Will leave it to you lot sorting out who is Campo, Foggy, Clegg, Wesley, Tom, and Electrical Entwistle *LOL* |

Bank holiday day 2 and another lot of washers to fix ! I should point out I’m not fixing them haha
Mathew is still going with the Westinghouse clone English Electric, he thinks it’s not filling fast enough so rinses are timing out, Steven has gone continental with the Philips slim star top loader from France, it had sat abandoned for years but is now all back together and working albeit with a heater issue. He’s also been busy with the Italian Bendix, new shock absorbers replaced the totally empty ones ( no wonder it danced around !) and now he’s investigating a heater issue with this too. As well as looking at the Hotpoint Microtronic from the early 1980s. New carbon brushes needed I think, and finally back to Italy for the Candy washer dryer, a very little used machine, that tripped the circuit breakers. We think the cal rods are damp. So repeated drying cycles might dry them and hopefully get a wash done. I’ve been photographing and enjoying Als cuisine and drinks ! Well it is a Bank holiday !! Richard |

Congratulations on your Platinum Jubilee meet up and thanks for sharing the photos. I really enjoyed the photos of your collection of appliances from 1952.
And congratulations to the Queen too! What an achievement, 70 years as the Queen of Great Britain. When I was in the 1st grade in 1957 we had a teacher from England who had been in the crowd at the Coronation and she’d taken 8mm home movies of it. She brought them to our school and they were shown to the entire student body at a special assembly. The movies were in Kodak-color and I thought they were brilliant! We all loved the shots of little Princess Anne and Prince Charles. It will be a truly sad day for the people of the UK and the world when Queen Elizabeth passes away. Long live the Queen. Eddie |

Nice meet up.
These French Philips have an unusual design, the heater is wired in serie with the motor and electronic unit. So the machine can't heat when the basket spins, that's why it has long pause during heating. The drawback is the heating switch that turns on and off several times by the fast timer cams during cycle, which carbonizes it after years. Anyway these timers can be fixed and can be more reliable after some modifications (add a relay to preserve the timer heating switch). Other heating problems can be due to the electronic thermostat. |
