Would my Maytag A506 be classified as a BOL model or mid-range?

From 1985. Single-speed fabric-matic, large capacity, lacks bleach dispenser (that was the only difference between the 506 and 512). I'd say it's pretty much midrange, maybe slightly towards bottom of line. Definitely higher up than my grandparents' old A107 (only one model above BOL).

My 1984 511 was considered the middle level Maytag. Mine does have a bleach dispenser that the 510 does not have. Mine has ran perfectly for nearly 40 years with one $28 motor pulley.

I would consider a 1-speed Fabricmatic model to be a BOL vs. a 2-speeder ... but there are usually two or three 1-speeders in the line so different levels of BOL-ness.

Middle of the line. Large capacity tub, infinite water level switch, 1 speed motor, 3 temperature selections, and fabric softener dispenser. I believe this model has a white tub like the higher end models rather than the typical blue tub that came standard on most MOL Maytag washers.

I believe the 512 had the white tub where the 511 added the bleach dispenser

I have a Fabricmatic LA512, serial April 1984, has a bleach dispenser and white basket, variable water level.

I worked on a 511 almost 10 years ago that had a blue tub. I guess it could have been a transplant.

My 511 has a dark tub, not white and has pushbutton temp and levels.

Yes, it has a white tub. So I guess that is more characteristic of middle/upper models. My grandparents' 107, of course, had the dark tub.
