Would these have been red from the factory? These are approximately 2009 models.

Red Whirlpool Laundry

Yes they also did blue around the same time, the big mistake appliance makers make is they come out with something like this that sets them apart from the competition and by the time customers warm up to the idea a buying a blue washer and dryer the item is gone.

Major appliances are not impulse sales very often, it not like buying a dress that you see, I see this type of poor decision all the time in major appliance sales.

I have said for years that WP could sell turquoise washers and dryers, it would mean more sales because people would normally buy both. Washers and dryers are usually off by them selves in a laundry room or basement and many people would buy something fun to Brighton up that area of the house.

They don't have to have the color in more tan one or two models and they don't need to make kitchen appliances to match.

Yes I saw a lot of nice sets scrapped in the mid 2000’s to make room for a matching set of color and the again in the early 2010’s because there wasn’t a match for the existing one when the other was having to be replaced already. It was a great sales tactic indeed.

I wish colors like turquoise would come back or sunny yellow but everyone seems to think white, grey, black, or stainless steel is modern. White, grey, black, stainless steel has all the excitement and thrill of a doctor’s office since those are the colors you usually see and if I only had those colors in my house, I wouldn’t be happy or optimistic since dull colors tend tend to make me tired and overall are dreary colors.

Imagine if Maytag had red washers and dryers from 1956 to 1965. Definitely would have been interesting if Maytag offered such colors.
