"Pity the auction company does not seem interested in helping buyers with shipping."
As with estate sales many auctions (which like this one often are estate sales), are not set up for shipping, nor do they want the bother. In cases where auction is an estate sale they may only have access to property for set dates and limited amount of time. If things are not collected it becomes an issue which normally is spelled out in contract between auctioneers and owners of property. This being said some places will work with those seeking shipping, but it often won't be cheap. If auctioneer has to haul property back to their offices until shipping takes place, there is a charge. If auctioneer has to arrange for shipping (such as though a pack/ship type place, there is a charge. And so it goes. Most won't quibble if winning bidder arranges their own shipping, long as terms regarding pick-up are honored. That is if they say "bring your own dolly, no assistance is available for loading...", that is what they mean. So if one uses say someone from UShip, that is what person must be prepared to do. Even when someone arranges shipping on their own (say again via UShip or similar), and that person flakes out or otherwise does not arrive when supposed to, terms of most auctions are clear. Things not collected by specified time are deemed forfeited with no refunds. One must register to bid with these auctions with a valid credit card. Soon has hammer falls said card is billed for full winning bid plus any vendors commission. In common with many others, this auction will do shipping for small items only. Larger things like appliances are another story. |
