I took delivery of my brand new LG ThinQ 12kg washer yesterday. Sometimes it is a curse being fascinated by washing machines. The door has a deep smoked outer cover which makes it near impossible to see inside. With my old LG it had the same but was easily removed with a knife and popping it out of its fixing points. It was plastic. Not the new one, it is glass and I have shattered it. It has left a ring of sharp edges around the door, very unsafe and very unattractive. Only option is to replace the whole door but will be back to square one. I have a very temporary fix with some duct tape as you can see. Any one out there have any other ideas? Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers Simon

You know that the title of your post makes one believe that the outer glass on the door shattered but you were the one that did the deed to the washer so you could see into the drum. You could replace the door with one that does not have the outer glass shield. I get that you thought it would be like your previous LG washer. My LG 3570 had the plastique outer shielding and I never would have thought of popping it off the door. Now my LG 4000 washer and dryer have the smoked glass outer part of the door that is not removable and I would not even attempt it.
