When I started my sophmore year in college (fall 1974), friends moved into a new small apartment comple just down the street that had their kitchen in those applinace colors. It was the same range but windowless door, but the dishwasher was the BOL model. This was the same time I moved into my apartment that had a kitchen reburbished in mid-late 1960s Hotpoint kitchen. Doesn't need to be said, but my dishwasher was the typical Hotpoint of the day that was LOUD. I could have been knocked over with a wet noodle when I heard their new dishwasher (they were the 1st resdents of the unit they lived in). It was actualy whiper quiet. Was car quieter than mine down the street. Main wash cycle was about 20 minutes long, it had a purge after the main wash, and it ACTUALLY washed dishes clean. The motor hum during the long wash cycle was alsmost such that it could put me in a trance. This was probably the last of the true Hotpoint designed dishwasers before they began incorporating the GE dishwashre pump that didn't reverse to drain and had the snapping drain solenoid like the rest of the GE dishwashers.
