and it appears to be one of the condenser Hotpoint dryers. The timer area reminds me so much of the 1956 Frigidaire Imperials s well as a Kenmore 70 or some such from about 1958 or 1959.

Ohhhh that's a RARE water condenser dryer! Someone should try and save that if they can.

Wow, now that's a very cool dryer, hopefully someone will grab this one. If only it had the matching washer, although one thing I found interesting was the familiar GE/Hotpoint drain hose sticking out of the picture. Despite how the design changed, at least they were still brand-conscious!

I saw this type of Hotpoint dryer in the 1961 (I believe) brochure that's posted on the site. Instead of a reservoir a la Filtrator, this particular machine actually connected to a water and drain line, similar to the combinations? I'm curious to know more...

I just hope some one does get it.. It would be a crying shame if some one here didn't get it..

I think this is a spray-type condenser - a nozzle sprays a film of water in a pan at the bottom of the drum which draws the warm, moist air from the drying chamber and condenses the moisture while cooling the air. The used water and lint are pumped away.

I think Jimmy (filterflo) has one of these from 1956 in his collection.

Not at that starting bid!!!!!!!!!

Way too pricey for those who have to arrange shipping!
C&F would really stick it to you---especially since that thing probably weighs like Jules Vern's diving bell.

Hopefully, someone nearby can snatch it!

Yes, a Hotpoint in 1959 would have the obligatory lighted control panel, even if it were just a lighted dial. The person wants way too much money for the dryer though.

To me, the timer dial and backsplash looks just like a 1956 (perhaps 1955) GE Filter-flo washer -- the first year the filter-flo came out.

Good dryer, but heaven forbid the lint filter should clog. I knew someone that had one of these dryers and it was a mess to open the door to remove the dry clothes and find them sitting in a pool of water sopping wet.

More than the drain filter clogged in that case because the water dryers had a pressure switch to prevent flooding. It would shut off the dryer if it sensed too much water in the condensation chamber. While most of the lint went down the drain, a big linty item could overwhelm the lint disposal process. That's one of the times the access port in the drum had to be opened so that the innards could be cleaned out.
