Hi all. I'm trying to buy a lint filter for my friend but he lives far away and I didn't get the model # to his Whirlpool dryer and trying to make a surprise gift and wont be able to get back over with it in the next scheduled visit otherwise. The original filter is really jacked up. Posted a screen grab of the panel.

I searched and the filter is either W10874409 (leaning toward) or WPW10717210. I swear his is off white and curved vs the other straight white and flat. Can any one confirm? Lots of differing pics and info from different sites. Thanks as always!

Neither one. You need a 339392V.

Or a WP349639. Can you remember how the handle was configured?

What do you mean? It had recessed grip area for a handle. How many top side long and lean lint filters are there? Dang, I wish I had I gotten the model # but he was drying clothes and I didn't want to seem weird or alarm him.

There are quite a few versions of the top mount lint filter over the years. Check out the links Dan posted to see if you recognize one. I’m thinking the WP349639 is probably the one you’ll need.

I was going to try to help, since that appears to be the same dryer that we have.
However, the only number that I can find on our lint filter appears to be 693846.
That being said, this dryer came with the house. So, I have no idea if this is the original filter, or if it's been replaced with an aftermarket piece at some point.

Ours does look more like the second one in Dan's post.

I think 693846 is the one. I thought in my original post searching it was white but its wasn't, it was grey. The lining around the filter itself is also grey. Also, its a solid handle, its not a rail like 339392V.

To RepairGuy or Dan Is 693846 and 349639 compatible? Do colors matter? 349639 has a grey handle but white lining the screen.

Attached is the best picture of 693846 which I'm almost positive is the one.

WP349639 is the current part number for several older numbers . Color does not matter.
